What whitening treatments do you offer?
At The Smile Studios, patients are given the option to choose between undergoing an in-office chair-side teeth whitening procedure or taking a dentist-supervised at-home teeth whitening treatment plan. The in-office procedure can be completed in about an hour or so. The at-home procedure can take as long as a month before you get any visible results. Both in-office and at-home teeth whitening treatments are guaranteed safe and are generally pain-free.
For the in-office chair-side procedure, The Smile Studios dentist will place dental dams against your gums to shield them from contact with the specially formulated whitening compound which will be painted on your teeth. Then light is shone onto the compound to activate the whitening agents as well as to speed up the whitening chemical reaction. At The Smile Studios, we use cutting edge PHILIPS ZOOM WHITESPEED LED and BRITESMILE LED that will not do any damage on the teeth. After about 20 minutes, the compound will be wiped off. Then the steps will be repeated for two or more times until you achieve your desire shade of white. Usually, three applications of the whitening compound will be enough to whiten your teeth by two to three shades brighter than your natural shade.
For the supervised at-home treatment plan, The Smile will take an impression of your teeth and gums during your initial consultation. The impression is then sent to the dental lab for fabrication of made-to-fit upper and lower teeth whitening trays. You will be told when you can come back to pick up your custom-made trays along with The Smile Studios’ at-home teeth whitening kit and written instructions. Typically, you will be told to regularly apply the whitening product over a period of two to four weeks depending on the extent of discoloration of your teeth. You will also be told how long you will have to hold the trays inside your mouth over your teeth. This can vary from 30 minutes to overnight, again depending on how much you intend to make your teeth whiter.
The results of teeth whitening treatment, whether in-office or at home, will however not last indefinitely. Eventually, the teeth will become discolored again following regular use and the normal aging process, more so for those who smoke or drink coffee, tea, dark-colored soda and red wine. For those who want a more permanent, stain resistant solution, they may be interested to know that The Smile Studios also offer porcelain veneers, Lumineers veneers, cosmetic dental bonding, and our new Snap on Smile dental appliance.
