When Are Crowns Necessary?

A crown might be needed when:

A decayed or fractured tooth needs to be covered.
To provide a permanent restoration for teeth with large fillings.
To improve the appearance of a moderately or severely damaged tooth.
To place over the top of a dental implant.

1. How functional will my crown be?

Your dentist and dental technician will plan and create a crown that is made to be as durable as possible. The methods and materials we use are robust and restore your biting ability. You will find your bite is restored and that your teeth are meeting together naturally again.

2. How do you make my crown look so natural?

Materials like metal alloys, ceramic and porcelain can be used to create your bespoke crown. Posterior teeth may be more suited to a stronger material, as they do most of your chewing and biting. Anterior teeth are more compatible with tooth-like materials, as they’re most visible when you smile. During your appointment, we will explain which materials are available, and show you a mock-up of what this will look like in the context of your smile.
