Tooth Extraction in Richmond and Cockfosters

Tooth extraction treatment in Richmond, Muswell Hill, Palmers Green, Heston, and Cockfosters, to help get your oral health back on track.

Tooth extractions to stabilise your oral health

Removing a problem tooth will reduce painful symptoms and avert more serious oral health problems. Your dentist at The Smile Studios may suggest extracting a tooth if:

  • Decay is extensive.
  • Root canal treatment can’t save a dental infection.
  • Periodontal disease has caused loose or failing teeth.
  • Your wisdom teeth are impacted or causing an infection.
  • You have crowded teeth (these may require extraction before teeth straightening with braces or Invisalign).

What to expect from the tooth extraction procedure

We use gentle techniques to remove problem teeth, and sedation is also available to patients who are nervous prior to treatment. Sedation is also recommended for complex and lengthy tooth removal cases, helping patients to relax in the chair with ease.

Post-treatment, we will provide aftercare instructions that you will easily be able to follow at home. We always encourage our patients to get in touch with us if anything doesn’t feel quite right after treatment.

How will I feel after the treatment?

If you were previously in pain due to a problem tooth, this pain often reduces significantly shortly after treatment has removed the tooth, causing problems for your oral health. The majority of our patients feel completely rested a few hours after their treatment and are able to get back to their normal routine, often on the day of the procedure. In some cases, this may take up to 24 hours.

Will I need to replace the gaps in my teeth?

We recommend tooth replacement treatment like a dental implant, dentures, or a dental bridge to fill the gaps in your smile after having a tooth extracted.

Replacing gaps in your teeth will help to reduce the possibility of future tooth loss, which becomes more likely due to the following:

  • Wear and tear.
  • Teeth following are drifting into the space left behind by the lost tooth.
  • Gum irritation and increased risk of gum disease.

However, in cases where wisdom teeth or crowded teeth have been removed, you do not need to consider tooth replacement treatment.
